The Auto Image Attributes Pro plugin not only allows you to automatically add a value to the Alt attribute, but also Title, Caption and Description. To do this, after installing and activating it, go to Settings -> Image Attributes in the admin panel, and on the Bulk Updater tab, click the Run Bulk Updater button.
